Description
BMD-2. Boevaya Mashina Desanta ( Airborne Combat Vehicle). Experience with the BMD-1in Afghanistan revealed serious problems with the design, including its 73mm low-pressure gun armament. As a short term solution a new turret was developed for the BMD fitted with the more effective 2A42 autocannon found on the infantry’s BMP-2 IFV. Gun has 60 degrees elevation electro-mechanical stabilization in two axis. 9P135 Konkurs anti-tank launcher is externaly mounted on a turret.
